SB110 Passes Out of Senate; AJR2 & AB99 Pass Out of Assembly

Marriage equality and transgender rights both had wins on Thursday. Assembly Joint Resolution 2, which would recognize all marriage regardless of the couple’s gender, passed out of the Nevada State Assembly. Assembly Bill 99, which would recognize foster kid’s gender identities while in state custody, passed along party lines. SB110 (negating the need for a published name change when changing to conform with gender identity) passed out of the Senate unanimously!

From Nevada Forward:

While this is Women’s Week in the Nevada Legislature, we’re also seeing movement on LGBTQ civil rights. The Senate passed a bill yesterday to ease the name change process for transgender Nevadans. And today, the Assembly passed a foster care bill and a constitutional amendment to protect Nevada’s marriage equality.
